Soprano Katie Boardman strives to elevate musical excellence in concert and in the communities she serves. A sensitive performer of music both centuries old and brand new, she has appeared with the Rose Ensemble, the Boston Camerata, St. Tikhon’s Choir, and Red Shift Choir. She can be heard with the PaTRAM Institute Singers on the GRAMMY-nominated recording of the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom, by composer Kurt Sander. She was one of the Voces8 US Scholars in the 2019-20 concert season.
Katie has maintained a private voice and piano studio for nine years, and has been a vocal masterclass clinician for music workshops around the country, including the Madison Early Music Festival.
A native of Wisconsin, Katie holds a BA in Vocal Performance and French from Augustana College in Illinois, and received her Master of Music in Historical Performance from Boston University.
Her flexibility as a performer means she can support students who are interested in a wide variety of styles as they establish a foundation of vocal freedom.
I am dedicated to fostering an encouraging environment and musical growth for students of all ages. I structure lessons so that they are both fun and productive, thoughtfully building good habits of musicianship. My flexible teaching methods and positive, encouraging attitude support students of many ages and skill levels, whether just beginning or experienced musicians, children or adults. I love helping my students find their voice and musicality. We build long-term habits of healthy and flexible vocal production, taking into consideration appropriate musical styles.
I am always inspired by the imagination and joy students discover when they choose to make music!
