Collin is currently working on a solo effort overlaying tracks at his home studio. Education has been what Collin focuses on when he is not creating his own music or playing gigs. Collin has been teaching guitar lessons for the past eight years and is currently working as a reading tutor in the Minneapolis Public Schools. As a player Collin has focused on a wide range of genres including blues, rockabilly, flat picking, finger style, jazz, rock and the occasional metal because who doesn’t like to just crank up that amp!
As a teacher Collin can guide each player on their own path of musical discovery. Instruments taught are guitar, beginners banjo, beginners mandolin, and bass. Collin also teaches songwriting. Students can learn the building blocks of putting together a song from lyrics and melody to chords and arrangements.
Students of all ages and abilities can sign up for lessons with Collin. Each student can choose their own path in learning. You might be interested in learning some basic chords so you can start putting music to those lyrics you have been writing down the past few years. You may be interested in learning some scales, improvisation, and transcription. Some students may want to learn classical pieces, theory, and reading music. You might just want to learn how to read tab and listen to music.
Whatever your needs Collin will tailor your lessons to your musical goals or get you started in formulating those goals.
Lessons may be scheduled week to week or monthly. Week to week lessons must be paid for in full prior to the start of lessons. Monthly lessons must be paid for on the 1st or 15th of each month. Same day cancellation by the student will still require lesson payment. Lesson cancellation by student with amble notice may qualify for a rescheduled lesson at a mutually decided upon time. If Collin needs to cancel a lesson or weather makes driving unsafe the lesson we either be credited, rescheduled, or refunded.
